About this work

Description

Glossary of terms compiled from Eighteenth century English cookery-books. A selection of 199 words. Author's holograph MS. The entry 'Stomachs of an ox' is illustrated by two rough drawings, one in ink and crayon, the other in pencil. It seems to have been started about 1900, as there are several references dated 1899. The latest date is 24/4/1926 in the entry for 'Quavivers (4)', but this is clearly a very late addition.
