About this work
The man in the photograph wears a beret or cap, a long beard and an apron: he is assumed to be an assistant to Edward Knight, who is listed in the 1920 Medical directory as Director of Cooke's School of Anatomy. The school had been founded in 1870 by Thomas Cooke FRCS (1841-1899), and was located on the corner of Handel Street (then called Henrietta Street) and Henrietta Mews, off Brunswick Square (Morton, op. cit.)
