Biographical note

Lady Cynthia Colville, President of the Association 1930-1963, was also Chairman of the Trustees of the IIWF. In 1960 the Fund began to provide travelling scholarships for Health Visitors to study infant care, feeding and management or the teaching of mothercraft in other countries. As a result of this, the Fund adopted a new management structure, increasing the number of Trustees to include three representatives of the WPHOA, which was to play a large part in drawing up the scholarship scheme. The Association was also asked to nominate the Honorary Secretary and Treasurer. B.L. Maryon, Honorary Secretary of the WPHOA, was also appointed Honorary Secretary of the Fund, which is probably how these records have come to be part of the Association's archive.
