Biographical note
Project description:'The Last Women' is an immersive museum participatory theatre project the centres broadly on the histories of Ruth Ellis, the last woman hanged in Britain in 1955, and Mary Ball, hanged in Coventry in 1849. Both women were victims of long-term domestic violence and hanged because they murdered their partners. The project aims to engage young people, the general public and academic experts specifically from medical history, in an interactive performance project with Triangle Theatre and partner museums taking place in Coventry, Nuneaton, Manchester, Nottingham, London, Edinburgh and Belfast. In particular, we explore the impact that medical science had on criminology and the justice system 1849-1955/2008.
