Biographical note
Abercrombie, John (1780-1844) was a physician, born in Aberdeen. He studied medicine at Edinburgh University. He went into general practice and became the leading physician in Edinburgh. In 1844, he died of a burst coronary artery and a stroke. A full description of his life and work is to be found in the Dictionary of National Biography.
