About this work

Description

This programme looks at the impact seeing a violent attack has on children. Psychiatrist Dora Black runs the only clinic in the UK to help children who have experienced extreme violence in their family. We see her working with Liz Carpenter and her two children whose father killed a man and nearly killed their mother. Lindsay, now 33, witnessed her father kill her mother when she was 4-years-old and never received therapy. She still suffers nightmares. The programme includes many useful insights into post-traumatic stress disorder in children and later adult life and how it manifests itself in art, speech and unconscious behaviours.
