L'Hospital de la Salpêtrière hors la Porte St. Bernard est vue principales dependances general de Paris; son nom vient de ce que l'on y faisoit autre fois le salpestre. ... Lettering continues: "Ce bastiment fut commence a reedifier magnifiquement en Avril 1650 et par ordonnance du Roy du 10 8bre 1668. Les pauvres y furent enfermez, il y sont norries et entrenus au mombre d'environ 4000. Perette fecit" Bears number: 54
