Biographical note

Florey was President of the Royal Society in 1962. He won the 1945 Nobel Prize along with Sir Ernst Boris Chain and Sir Alexander Fleming for their roles in the making of penicillin. He is regarded in his native Australia as one of the country's greatest scientists.
