About this work

Description

This video was made in the wake of Britain's 2001 foot-and-mouth epidemic to instruct farmers in key precautions to protect their stock from foot-and-mouth disease and avoid passing it on. The information, which relates to farmers' clothing and hygiene, vehicle cleaning, procedures for visitors and the management of infected and uninfected animals is presented by Jim Scudamore, Chief Veterinary Officer. The measures described are demonstrated. The symptoms of foot-and-mouth disease in cattle, pigs and sheep are described and shown.
