Frosted surface or Givre on Vanilla

Report on the cause of the frosted surface, or, Givre on Vanilla. London. Holograph draft (on rectos only) with a typed transcript, apparently unpublished. The paper regards the presence of the glucoside vanillin as dependent on the ripeness of the pod when gathered and on the treatment to which it is afterwards subjected; contemporary methods of gathering and curing are described.
