About this work

Description

The third in a series of four programmes following a social experiment, the largest of its kind for 30 years, into power and social equality. For a period of 2 weeks 14 men are divided into two groups - 5 guards and 9 prisoners who have to attempt to live harmoniously with no external influence. Two psychologists watch the process and independant observers are on hand should the experiment get out of control. The objective is to see if a system of inequality turns good men into evil. In part 2, a tenth prisoner was introduced to the mix and in this part we see how he responds to the rebellious behaviour of a core group of the prisoners. By the end of day 7, two of the prisoners have broken out of their cells and infiltrated the guards' quarters.
