Description

Written in a neat gothic hand, in double column of 43 lines to a column. Ornamental initial in red, green and yellow on fol. 1: other capitals, headings, and paragraph marks in red. Fol. 1, col. 1 (red) Incipit liber uiatici Constantini/africani monachi montis cascini. /Quoniam quidem in theoricis [sic]/ait tullius... 37v concule marine incense cum oleo/rosato multum vale[nt] etc./ Explicit liber viatici Constantini/affricani. /finito libro sit laus et gloria christo. /Amen. Below the end of the text is a 6 line receipt for 'Unguentum alabastrum', by a different but perhaps contemporary hand. There is also another for 'Pille que sine custodia possunt recipi' by an early 15th cent. hand. Below this, added by a later 15th cent. hand, 'Vide antonium guarnerium in tractatu de peste que plurima optima sunt'.

Physical description

1 volume 37 ll. 4to. 25 x 17 cm. On vellum. Calf binding over wooden boards damaged; clasp wanting. Leaves are wanting after ff. 8, 11, 14, 16, 17, 18, 20, 22, 26, 28, 31, 33, 36: fol. 27 is mutiliated, some leaves are stained and cockled.
