Trachoma WHO grade: trachomatous inflammation - intense (TI)

WHO grade: trachomatous inflammation - intense (TI) This is the upper tarsal conjunctiva of a patient with TI. As well as inflammatory thickening of the upper tarsal conjunctiva, all deep tarsal vessels are obscured and the tarsal conjunctiva is red and rough. There appear to be some follicles, but these are too few to merit a TF classification (WHO grade: trachomatous inflammation - follicular) in addition to TI. Note: WHO = World Health Organization.
