During tho year milk sampling was carried out in accordance with tho National Milk Testing and Advisory Schomo. A District Laboratory was sot up in Builth bolls and samples of o.ll producer retailors milk wora taken fortnightly throughout tho year by tho Sanitary Inspector.All wholesale milk is tested as a routine at tho various milk depots and creameries. Under this schomo milk is graded into throe categories,i.c., Category A. Milk of good keeping quality. Category B ...Milk of doubtful keeping quality. Category C, ..Milk of bad keeping quality which is retuenablo to tho vendor. On tho receipt of samples of Category C milk advisory visits are paid to tho particular farm by an officer of the War Agricultural Executive Committee and if no improvement occurs as a result of these visits the producer is referred to tho Local Authority for any action that is deemed nocossary. Tho following figures show tho results of tho samples taken during tho year. Total samples taken... 86, Category A samples.... 64, Category B samples 14. Category C samples 8. No producer was referred by the War Executive Committee during tho year. Sanitary Officer. Tho position of sanitary officer was hold during tho year by Mr.II.T.Jones.Ho travelled daily from his home in Abcrcynon and this proved not too easy especially when one considers the inclement weather during the winter months.A successor was advertised for on two occasions but no applicants were recoivod for the position and at tho ond of the year Mr.Ii.T.Jones was still employed by tho Council and doing very useful work.
