Notes

Kay Currey is 17 from Manchester. She is currently doing her A-levels at college and hoping to study History and Politics at University. She partakes in a model UN at college and feels that young people arent involved enough in politics because they find it boring. She wants to have a job in politics when she graduates in the UN, government or an NGO. During her time on the plinth she is going to ring a bell and read the names for each of the 213 men and women who have died in the war in Afghanistan. She talks about her family, who she is close to, what they do for a living and how they encourage her to form her own views. She has done this through joining a debating society. She wants to travel more in the future to experience a different way of life. She isn't partaking in the project for herself but to raise awareness for her cause. She describes herself as a feminist and is inspired by strong female characters such as the suffragettes and Margaret Thatcher.
