Magdalen Vernon (b. June 25 1901 d. December 1, 1991) Professor of Psychology.

Birthplace: Oxford, daughter of H. M. Vernon and sister of Philip Vernon.

Educated: Newham College, Cambridge. Graduated 1924

Joined Frederic Bartlett at Cambridge University's Psychological Laboratory 1925 to 1946.

Appointed lecturer at Reading University 1946.

Elected Chair of Psychology (at Reading) 1956- until retirement (late sixties)

Founder member of the Experimental Psychology Group (President 1950 to 1953).

President of the British Psychological Society from 1958 to 1961.

Made Honorary Fellow of the British Psychological Society in 1970.
