I beg to submit my report for 19‘=^3* This as in the past six years is only an Interim Report, and details of statistics, and work in connection with the war is omitted* ■iiv STATISTICS. Births. There were 127 live births, of which 2 were illegitimate, and 2 still births. The birth rate is 20.2 per 1,000 estimated civilian population, and that for England and Wales is l6.5* The still birth rate is 15*5 1,000 live and still births. Deaths. There were 108 deaths corrected by in?;ard and outward transfer. This number is rather more then a year ego. The death rate is 17•! which compares unfavourably with 12.1 for England and Wales. Ten deaths were due to Cancer, and 28 to Heart disease. There were no deaths due to Road accidents. There v/ere 9 deaths of infants under 1 year, and this gives an infrntile death rate per 1,000 live births of 70j similar rate for England and Wales is 49* There was 1 maternal death after child birth, giving a rate of 7*7 per 1,000 live and still births. Appended is a. table shewing the age incidence end causes of death. These causes do not quite tally with the tables sent from the Registrar General. It will be noticed that over 8c% of deaths vjere of persons over 45 B. GENERAL ■PRQVIoIOH OF, HEALTH SERVICES. There has been a change during the year as Mr. F. J. Harris, the Borough Surveyor, retied at the age limit, and has been succeeded by Mr. 3. C. Drabble, A.I.A.S, C.R.S.I. J.B., M.S.I.A., who coirjnenced duties in November. C. SANIT;iRY CIRCll'13TANCE3. This section and the two following embody the report of the Surveyor and Sanitary Inspector- Sewerage The disposal works at Forder ere allowing a certain emount of pollution to take place,.but the Salt Mill Wjorks are rather better. ^buse RefuseNotwithstanding shortage of labour collection is meinteined. The Tip is not satisfactory, and controlled tipping is precluded by the terms of the existing agreement wit^ the owners of the land. Rats cause a good deal of nuisance in the vicinity of the Tip. Camping SitesAs before. Sea V/ater Bath;- As before. Water SupplyArrangements have nov; been completed with the S.E. Cornwall Water Board, and a supply can be obtained from there if occasion should arise. Inspections There has been a decrease in the number of Inspections made due to a break of two months between the retirement of Mr. Harris and Mr. Drabble*s appointment. The number of inspections made in connection with drainage and dairies was 94.
