Monumentum Ære Perennius. That the public and the world may know to whom this country and its posterity will for ever stand indebted for their deliverance from political death, endangered by a system of despotism, infamy and corruption, the following list is most humbly an gratefully dedicated to the eternal honour of two hundred and forty independent members of Parliament, who attended in their places in the House of Commons, on Wednesday, 20th March, 1782, on notice being given by the Earl of Surrey, of his intention to move a resolution for the dismission of the ministry; which question was very prudently averted by the official declaration of the Premier, Lord North, "that they had, one and all, that day resigned."

Proving 'tis lawful and meritorious in the Sight of God and Man, to destroy, by any means, tyrants of all degrees, their Creatures and Dependants; That should attempt the Subversion of Liberty in a free State, to introduce Slavery, Beggary, &c. Demonstrated from Holy Writ, the Laws of Nature, and the most celebrated Authors, Antient and Modern. By the brave Colonel Titus, alias W. Allen. Illustrated with many Examples of true Patriotism, And contains many Things that deserve a serious Consideration in our present State. Wherein nothing but the Exertion of a general public Spirit can avert our being curs'd with a Train of Evils impending; And when too late, the Pusillanimous may cry, Good Lord; who could have thought it? To which are added, the sentiments of an illustrious patriot, deceas'd; on important Subjects that concern the very Being of the Constitution and Liberties of Britain.
