Thane's catalogue for 1774, of a curious and valuable collection of prints, and books of prints. Containing a great variety of fine historical, &c. prints, by the most esteemed antient and modern masters. Including several thousand English & foreign portraits, both engraved and in mezzotinto amongst which are many of the finest and rarest in the English and foreign series. The whole collected abroad & at home at great expence, and will begin to be sold this May, 1774. Thane's second catalogue for 1773 of a most curious and valuable collection of prints, drawings, books, books of prints, illuminated missals, antient manuscripts, deeds and rolls, coins, medals, and antiquities, and other curiosities, the whole collected with great care and expence, out of the cabinets of the late Mr. West, and others. The collection consists of the finest impressions of historical and other prints, both ancient and modern, by Marc Antonio, Rubens, Rembrandt, Raphael VanDyke, Mic. Angelo, Albert Durer, Hollar, &c. &c. &c. Aa also a great number of the finest foreign portraits, by Drevet, Edelinck, Nantueil, &c. &c. likewise several hundred English portraits, including many of the scarcest by Faithorne, White, Hollar, Cross, Pass, &c. &c. and many other fine English portraits in metzotinto, by Smith, Faber, M'Ardel, Becket, &c. The books are chiefly early printed, and on antiquities, coins, medals, &c. including several hundred scarce tracts and plays. A catalogue of the remaining part of this collection of prints being matchless both for number, variety, beauty, and scarcity; Consisting of All the Great Masters in Europe, and their Disciples in every School. The Topography of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales, Which comprehends the Geography, Churches, Monuments, Views, Plans, and Elevations of the Different Seats, &c. Heraldry and all other Antiquities in each Country; Likewise a wonderful Collection both of English and Foreign Portraits; In the former is found almost every Print that has been engraved from the earliest to the present Time. Which will be sold by Mr. Greenwood, At his Room, in Leicester Square, on Tuesday the 21st Day of February, 1786, and Seventeen following Days (sundays excepted) Where Catalogues may be had at Five Shillings each, (which will be allowed to the Purchaser) also at Mr. Alderman Boydell's, in Cheapside; Mr. Robson, Bookseller, New Bond Street, and Mr. Payne, Bookseller, Mews Gate.
