Hire the Dale Room

A calm, naturally lit space, the Dale Room is well suited to workshops, training sessions and small board meetings. In the evening, it works well for networking drinks.

The Dale Room is 8.8m by 6.5m, with a ceiling height of 2.53m at its highest point and 2.4m at its lowest. The doorway is 1.71m wide and 2.05m high.

If you’re bringing equipment or materials into the room, you may also need these measurements:

The room includes a digital screen, laptop, inbuilt speakers and WiFi.

The Dale Room is wheelchair accessible and has an induction loop. There is an adapted toilet on this level, and assistance dogs are welcome.

The minimum number for catering is 12 people.

The Henry Wellcome Auditorium

Hire the Henry Wellcome Auditorium

The Henry Wellcome Auditorium is a tiered theatre space for up to 154 people, with four wheelchair spaces. A raised stage accommodates up to seven speakers with the lectern on stage, or eight without.

With comfortable seating and generous legroom, it’s well suited to film screenings, conferences, report launches and product events.

Two aisles allow for easy movement through the space, including during audience Q&As. We also offer live streaming and hybrid conferencing to help you reach a wider audience.

The auditorium includes use of the Williams Lounge, which can be used for registration, small exhibitions, networking or drinks receptions.

Our team will support you in planning and running your event.

All seats include pull-out armrest tables for note-taking.

The auditorium measures 16.26 m by 10.57 m, with a height of 5.6 m at the screen end. The doorway is 1.45 m wide and 2.01 m high.

The stage is 5.46 m wide, 1.96 m deep and 0.2 m high. The top table measures 1.82 m by 0.74 m and seats nine speakers.

There is 1.71 m between the stage and the bottom of the screen, and 2.44 m from the stage to the front row.

If you are bringing equipment into the auditorium, you may need the measurements along the access route:

Door at end of corridor: 0.87 m by 2.13 m

Up to eight microphones (headset and handheld)

The Reading Room

Hire the Reading Room

The Reading Room is a bright, open space filled with artworks, medical artefacts and manuscripts, alongside a collection of over 1,000 books. Available after closing to the public, it is suited to events ranging from drinks receptions and business networking to dinners.

Objects on display include a life mask of Beethoven, a 1920s X-ray machine made of wood, steel and rubber, and a dress illustrating neural development.

Guests can move freely through the space, explore the library shelves or take a seat on one of the sofas. The room is filled with natural light during the day and lit by soft lamps in the evening.

The Reading Room is suited to drinks receptions, product launches and dinners.

Free WiFi is available. A PA system can be provided on request.

The Reading Room is wheelchair accessible and has an induction loop. There are adapted toilets on this level, and assistance dogs are welcome.

The Franks and Steel Rooms are quiet and airy with plenty of natural daylight. You can hire them as one space or two separate rooms. They’re popular for everything from training workshops to product launches.

The Franks Room is 7.7 m by 11.5 m. It’s 2.53 m from floor to ceiling at its highest point and 2.4 m at its lowest point. The doorway is 1.4 m wide and 2.01 m high.

The Steel Room is 7.7 m by 6.6 m. It’s 2.7 m high at its tallest point and 2.32 m along the central beam of the room. The doorway is 1.4 m wide and 2.01 m high.

If you’re bringing anything into the Franks or Steel Rooms, you’ll also need to know the measurements along the route on the way in. These are: goods lift: 1.54 m by 1.95 m. Staff corridor door: 1.64 m by 2.05 m. Staff corridor: 1.13 m wide. Door at end of staff corridor: 0.87 m by 2.13 m.

The Williams Lounge is a spacious reception room and breakout area. It comes free when you hire the Henry Wellcome Auditorium. You can also hire the Williams Lounge on its own in the evenings.

Whether you’re using the Williams Lounge to launch a new product or for drinks before a film screening, we’ll always go the extra mile to make your event as stress-free as possible.

Capacity depends on the layout you choose. Our photos show cocktail and café layouts. These look similar to reception and dinner layouts. And these are the numbers you need:

The Williams Lounge is 10.3 m by 18.9 m. It’s 2.64 m from floor to ceiling at its highest point and 2.24 m at the lowest. The main doorway is 1.68 m wide and 2.2 m high.

There are two lockable offices leading off the lounge. You can also use these as cloakrooms or for storage. Office 1 is 3.35 m by 3.8 m and 2.2 m high. Office 2 is 3.4 m by 3.8 m and 2.2 m high.

If you’re bringing anything into the lounge, you’ll need to know the measurements along the route on the way in. These are: goods lift: 1.54 m by 1.95 m. Staff corridor door: 1.64 m by 2.05 m. Staff corridor: 1.13 m wide. Door from staff corridor into lounge: 0.87 m by 2.13 m.

The Williams Lounge comes with three desktop PCs, a printer and wifi. We can supply a PA system if you need one.
