The trial of Mauritius Vale, Esq; At His Majesty's Supreme Court of Judicature, at St. Jago de la Vega, in the island of Jamaica, on Saturday the 30th day of August, 1735, before the Honourable John Gregory, Esq; Chief Justice of the said Court, and the Justices his Associates there, for the murder of Mr. John Steevens, Merchant, at St. Jago de la Vega aforesaid, on the Second Day of July, 1735. Taken by a gentleman who attended in the said court during the whole Time of the Trial. To which is annexed, a true copy of a letter wrote by Mr. Vale, and sent to Mrs. Gandy, the Night before the Day appointed for his Execution: As also, a true Copy of the Paper left behind him, as his Dying Words, the same Night found under him, after he had cut his Throat.
