<p>The dentist's shop is similar in appearance to an apothecary's shop of the time, containing many of the same elements: skull, pestle and mortar, apothecary jars, peculiar specimens, stuffed animals and skeletons of strange creatures</p>

Waterton, Charles (1782-1865), traveller and naturalist

Manuscript notebook entitled 'Bullock's method of preserving objects of Natural History'. The text includes sketches of a fish, butterfly and bird in the process of being preserved.  The inside front cover and pages 25-end contain scribblings, recipes, poems, and rough sketches of plants, animals, buildings, people, etc. Among these the dates 1821 and 1822 are found. The B.M. Catalogue has an entry for the second edition of this work, dated 1818. The first edition presumably appeared in 1817, as this is the year mentioned in the D.N.B.

Bullock, William (fl. c. 1825)

<p>Small card advertising the supplies of E. Boubée Fils which cocnsist mainly of stuffed birds and animals, their stuffed heads, horns and skins in the form of a rug. Birds for fashion purposes (hats etc.) were also available as were supplies for naturalists.</p>
