Folded leaflet bound into a magazine advertising Peralia cosmetics. Printed on pale green paper in dark blue ink on the front and black ink inside. A diecut hole is in the centre of the first page showing the head and shoulders of a woman powdering her cheek on page 3. 'Peralia' is in an ornate typeface with decorative scrolls around it.

This is a label which would have been applied to either a bottle of the Lotion or the box it was sold in, probably dating from the early 1900s. It includes directions for use on the two side panels but no details of its manufacturer. The central panel has a picture of a smiling young girl with long, dark, ringlets inside a wreath border in the middle of the text. A yellow ochre border with blackberry leaf, vine and flower motifs surrounds that. We have a smaller label (EPH400:13) which may have been for a smaller size bottle. There is space at the bottom for the retailer to have their details overprinted.

Includes cosmetics, moisturisers, plant extracts, natural remedies, talcum powder etc., Boots 'Botanics' range (2002), Tesco's Sodamtuff 'men's premium grooming products' (2002), the Body Shop's 'Mostly Men' range of cosmetics (1990), a history of the Body Shop ("Against animal testing").

Box file containing items of ephemera in acid free sleeves. These are nearly all 19th century Victorian labels that would have been stuck onto bottles, jars etc. Many are printed in colour. They are for: eau de Cologne, elder flower water, lavender water, orange flower water, otto of rose lip salve, penny royal water, peppermint water, rose water, citron pomatum, bears' grease, bears' oil (these were supposed to 'promote the growth of hair'), hair oils, honey water, circassian hair regenerator, cowslip pomatum, crystal pomade, ox marrow pomatum, philocombe pomade, sweet briar pomatum, Hide's cream of Mowbray, Rowland's, Ruvland's and Kendall's macassar oils,Buerger Bros. Supply Co. (Denver : after shave, fragrance, toilet water, eau de Cologne, eau de toilette)
