He advertised extensively, first locally and then nationally, as his business and use of his products grew. The firm was taken over by Lever Brothers Ltd. (now part of Unilever) in 1908.

Promotional item advertising Hudson's 'Rinso' washing detergent. Printed in black, grey, white and red on metal with a brass finish on the reverse. Measurements in inches along the left side (5 inches) and centimetres along the other (12 cm.). A 180 degrees protractor is cut out of the middle with the Rinso logo in the centre of that.

The soap's use for cleaning the nursery floor (leaving the room "sweetened and purified"), baths, feeding bottles and on linen is boasted about in small boxes on the reverse - which shows the back of the boy's head and bib.
