About this work

Description

Notebook kept by a surgeon at an unnamed hospital [John Green Crosse (1790-1850) at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital], recording admissions to the out-patients department and medicines prescribed. The identity of the surgeon and the hospital have been ascertained by comparison with the admissions register of the out-patients department of the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital, 1844-53 (Norfolk Record Office, NNH 48/1). MS. 5675 records only those patients admitted under the care of J G Grosse, who attended every third admission day of the department. It is mainly in Crosse's hand (cf. MSS. 1916-1917).
