Description

Reproduction of a photograph of three sacred birch bark records published as plate XIX in Hoffman, Walter James: The Midewiwin, or, "Grand medicine society" of the Ojibwa, Washington, 1891. The upper-right specimen is a mnemonic song obtained from White Earth Reservation and the other two were obtained from Red Lake Reservation. A photograph of the book plate was acquired by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum and accessioned in 1938 (accession number PHO 10788).
