About this work

Description

The second in a two-part series which explores the fine line between madness and sanity. A group of 10 volunteers undergo a series of tests set by a group of psychiatrists (from the Royal College of Psychiatrists) over the course of a week at Heber Castle. Out of the volunteers, five have mental health issues and it is up to the psychiatrists to work out which ones these are. The conditions include depression, social behaviour disorder, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder and anorexia nervosa. The participants are given various tasks to perform which will hopefully bring their mental health issues to light. The programme intends to show how close apparently 'sane' people are to 'madness' and how difficult it is to differentiate between what are symptoms of mental illness and what are mere character traits. In this part they have to make their final diagnoses and only manage to get two correct out of five disorders.
