![A Letter left by an unknown Perfon at the AUTHOR'S Houfe, during his db- fcence} concerning the Marrow of Chi- rurgery. Good Sir HOUGH unknown to your Perfon, I am not a Stranger to your Worth. That excellent piece, which you have lately publifhed, ipeaks your parts, and thole parts fpeak you Ingenious, Candid, Expert. Methinks til# Treafure of Chirurgery lay hitherto difperft in other Tra&s, tanquam ami metaUa in arena : But in your Books we enjoy an entire Mine, and it’s Ore too, purged from all drols of imperti- nency by your refining Hand ; For it is the happjnefs of fuccindfc and pithy Manuals, to exprefs much in a little; and a Fortune they enjoy above the fate of larger Volumes: that whilft they improve the underftanding, they burden not the memory nor the bearer. Certainly the Englijh-Tongue, ( for which your Country is in¬ debted to you ) was never heretofore taught to prefcribe inch Ela¬ borate and Elegant Remedies ; which neverthelefs you have Adorned ( beyond the Examples and imitation of your profeffi- on ) with the choice!! Flowers of Chymiftry, Wherefore having opportunity by a friend of mine, who is travelling into Worcefter to Colonel William Deinly, I made bold, as allied to you in the lame Studies, to follicit your Acquaintance, defiring your in- ffraction in fbme particulars [ of your Book ] wherein my for¬ ward, but well meaning curiofity, importunes your Relblve, not doubtihg, but as you firft publifhed this excellent work for the benefit of all, lb you will to any of your fellow-Artilfs clear thofe Scruples, which may render your pains obfoure. The particulars wherein I requell your fatisfadfion are thefe only. FirlijYour Aqua Caphurata mentioned amongff your Magifirals, I cannot find in the place whereto you refer your Reader ; and though I find it named in other parts in your Book, yet is it no a where](https://iiif.wellcomecollection.org/image/b30323071_0001_0021.jp2/full/800%2C/0/default.jpg)
