    Us, to grant him Our Letters Patent, requifite for that Purpofe, Wherefore, We, being willing to ufe favourably the faid Petitioner, by the Advice of Our Council, together with the Teftimony of the Academy of Sciences on the Ufe- fulnefs the Public may enjoy by this Machine, of Our fpecial Grace, full Power, and Royal Authority, We have by thefe Prefents figned with Our Hand granted. We permiUhnd grant to the faid Petitioner, and his Deputies, to .build and eftablifh,V in &11 Cities, Boroughs, and Villages in Our Kingdom, Men of War or Merchantmen, Manufactories, Corporations, Plofpitals, and all other Places where he think fit, and where he (hall be called, his Machines denominated CEconomical, Chemical, Phyfical Chimnies, and all other Machines of his Cornpofition, which may be adapted to them, whether in Point of faving in Cookery or in Fumigations, the Draughts of which are fixed under the Counter Seal of the prefent Patent.; and by this foie Privilege, for the Term of Ten Years following, to begin from the Date of recording the faid Patent. We forbid to every Perfon or Perfons, of whatever Quality or Degree they be, to counterfeit or eftablifh throughout the Extent of our Kingdom, Machines like thefe, during the faid Ten Years, on pain again# the Offender, of Three Thoufand Livres Penalty, a Third appliable to Us, the fecond Third to be diffributed to the Poor of the neareft Hofpital to the Place where the Offence ffiall have been committed, and the other Third to be difpofed to the Profit of the Petitioner; and moreover, the Forfeiture of the faid Machines, and of any Thing which fhall have any Conformity to them. Yet We do not mean that the faid lole Privilege be hurtfuL to other Machines of an older Invention, or which might be invented hereafter of a different Conffru&ion than that of the Petitioner, and which might have a chief and fenfible Difference in their Make and EffeCt. Thus We give this Mandate to Our Well-beloved and Trufty Counfellors, the Judges, holding Our Court of Parliament at Paris, and to all others Our Officers and Juftices, whom, it may concern ; that they caufe the prefent Patent to be regiffered, and to make enjoy the Petitioner fully and quietly the Contents thereof, during the faid Terms of Ten Years, difcontinuing and making difcontinue all Trouble and Oppofition, notwithftanding Letters contrary to thefe. For such is Our good Pleasure. In Teftimony whereof. We have commanded Our Seal to be affixed to thefe Prefents.
