Description
General Hoche reserved a particular hatred for England which was exacerbated by a failed invasion in Ireland. Following his death in 1797, his funeral was an elaborate affair in the Champs de Mars in Paris, complete with chorus. This print satirises this event and was accompanied by a similarly satirical leaflet
