About this work

Description

Atrophy of the thymus This is a medium power view of an atrophic thymus from a child dying of AIDS. The thymus is greatly reduced in volume, being replaced by fibrous tissue. The normal thymus T-cell presence is very small, most of the remaining tissue is comprised of epithelial cells. H&E stain. Compare this with the normal thymus shown in image W0047313.
