Description
Heart Haiku is a series of collaborative zines of patient-produced short-form poetry. Following a call for contributions on experiences of heart disease through the format of haiku, Laura Donald asked for haikus on the theme of cardiac devices - pacemaker, ICD, CRT, LVAD, loop recorder, mechanical valve, "anything you've ever thought about having a cardiac device, I want to hear it." This zine was created digitially by the author, and the PDF was printed by Wellcome for inclusion in the collection.
"Hearty Tales was launched in December 2019 as a space to share my [Laura Donald] research into written representations of chronic heart disease, as well as my own experiences of living with heart failure. I'm a first-year PhD student at the University of Glasgow, researching written representations of chronic heart disease from 1980 to the present.
