    REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF VISITORS OF THE COUNTY LUNATIC ASYLUM AT STAFFORD, PRESENTED TO THE COURT OF QUARTER SESSIONS, HELD JANUARY 2nd, 1854. “ The Committee of Visitors of the General Lunatic Asylum for the County of Stafford, in accordance with 16 and 17 Vic., chap 97, sec. 62, beg to report that they con¬ sider the state and condition of the said Asylum highly satisfactory, and that the accommodation for the number of lunatics is sufficient, with the exception of that portion of the house appropriated to the reception of male patients; this deficiency the Committee trust will not exist on the removal of the private patients to the new Lunatic Asylum at Coton Hill, which it is expected will soon be ready for the reception of patients of that class. The Committee may observe that—notwithstanding this difficulty, such arrangements have been made that only one pauper patient has been refused admission. The Committee feel perfectly satisfied with the general management of this Asylum, and with the conduct of the officers and servants thereof, and with their care of the patients. The Committee feel justified in making this report, having visited the establishment with great regu¬ larity. A few alterations are in progress, which have been deemed necessary in the warming apparatus and laundry, which will tend to increase the comforts of the inmates/' Signed, TALBOT, Chairman.
