Description
Adenovirus infection
This is a high power view of a colon biopsy from a patient with HIV disease and adenovirus infection. There is mild inflammation of the lamina propria and two adenovirus inclusions are seen (arrowed). One is in the superficial epithelial layer and the second is in an epithelial cell which has recently been sloughed off the surface. These viral inclusions are intranuclear. H&E stain.
