About this work
Description
Folios 1-75 are filled by a treatise headed "Cursus Anatomicus." This has doubtless been compiled from lectures notes on Pitcairne's course with the aid of a textbook, and it takes the form of a systematic treatise, divided into chapters with marginalia, as follows:
Cap. 1. On the Bones in Generall (fo. 1-6);
Cap. 2. De Cerebro et Nervis (fo. 7-12);
Cap. 3. De Organis Sensuum (fo. 13-22);
Cap. 4. Of Mastication and Diglution (fo. 22 verso-25);
Cap. 5. De Ventriculo & Intestinis (fo. 25-27);
Cap. 6. Of the Liver & Spleen, nerves, chyle, &c. Lungs & Heart, including sections on the Circulation of the Blood and De Lympha (fo. 28-35);
Cap. 7. De Partibus Generationis Masculinis (fo. 35 verso-38); [at this point the numbering of the chapters ceases]
Of the Muscles, ending with the word "Finis" (fo. 39-62).
Inserted after fo. 62 are two sheets, pages numbered 39-42, taken from another book of smaller size, headed "Collections Anatomy 1692," comprising a list of anatomical terms in two columns to a page (fo. 63-64).
Folio 65 is blank, and is followed by Order of Desecting & Demonstration of the Circulation (fo. 66-68) and The Manner of Injecting the Vessells with Wax (fo. 69-74: folio 75 is blank).
