About this work

Description

Collection of menus, with diagrams of the lay-out of courses, etc., for Royal Banquets: from August 16th, 1813 to April 23, 1828. This MS. was the work of the royal chef, and contains menus of enormous length for royal birthday dinners. At the end are 'Bills of Fare for the Banquets at the Coronation of His Majesty King George the Fourth, July the 19th, 1821'; held in Westminster Hall.

Physical description

1 volume 24 ll. tall 4to. 401/2 x 171/2 cm. Original half-calf binding, worn. Some leaves cut out at the beginning and end: lower part of a leaf at the end torn away. The last leaf is pasted down on to the cover.
