    of the confluent Small-pox, attended with air eruption of purple fpots, and a hsemorrhagy.* Every individual of the family was taken ill of the fever on the fevcnth night after the death of the child. An antimonial emetic was immediately given to each of them, and a dofe of calomel the next morning. In the children, and fervants, the fever Avas brought to a crifis on the fourth day. The father and mother, who had aphthous ulcerations in the fauces, began to recover on the fourteenth day of the difeafe. The Meafles were, in general, much more fevere laft month than in January and Fe- bruary. They were fucceeded, in children, by obftinate coughs, and difficulty of brea- thing, with febrile fymptoms long continued ; by glandular fwellings, and eruptions of pain- ful inflamed puftules, fome of them being nearly as large as boils. * It was probably incorreft to refer the difeafe thus pro- duced to the head of Contagious, malignant Fever. I have fir.ce repeatedly fcen a febrile complaint, attended with aphthae, originate from intcrcourfe with patients labouring under the purple Small-pox, and from expofure to other putrefeent effluvia.
