Briganti's translation of Carolus Clusius' annotated Latin abridgement of the Orta work (Clusius' title: Aromatum, et simplicium ... historia) and Briganti's translations from the Spanish of Part 1 of Monardes' Historia medicinal and the latter's treatise on bezoar were first published Venice, 1576, under title: Due libri dell'historia de i semplici ... e due altri libri ...; without name of publisher or printer but with the same fountain device (early version; cf. above) on t.p. as the present ed. The same texts were reissued 1582, without name of publisher or printer and a different fountain device (with putti heads)
The present anonymous translations of Part 2 of Monardes' Historia medicinal and his treatise on snow were first published Venice, 1575, together with anonymous translations of Part 1 and the treatise on bezoar, each part with special t.p., with title: Delle cose che vengono portate dall'Indie Occidentali ...; with comet device and statement "Presso di Giordano Ziletti" (cf. Arents, G. Tobacco, 20). Two 1582 reissues of these texts have on first t.p., respectively, the fountain-putti heads device with no name of publisher or printer, and the comet device with "Appresso Giordano Ziletti"; on 2nd t.p., the comet and "Appresso Francesco Ziletti" For a copy of the 1582 Orta-Monardes Pt. 1 and the 1582 Monardes Pts. 1-2 (pt. 1 is the anonymous issue) bound, perhaps as issued, in one vol., cf. Arents 20A
