About this work

Description

Lateral (side) view of the trigeminal ganglion (a collection of cranial nerve cell bodies) in a one day old zebrafish embryo. The neurons and their axons are labelled brown with an antibody that recognises cell adhesion molecules. At this stage of development, axons are extending from the ganglion and branching throughout the skin of the head where they will form sensory nerve endings.
