About this work

Description

Transmission electron micrograph showing the degeneration and unravelling of collagen fibrils via focal swellings in a patient with glaucoma. The a-e banding pattern is normal for type I collagen and other interstitial collagens and can be clearly seen in unaffected parts of the fibrils. The intact fibrils are approximately 130nm in diameter.
