    ( *3 ) very High, his Tongue dry and rough, his Urine high coloured and crude, and was informed that he had not flept for feveral Days and Nights before. The next Morning he loft about 12 Ounces of Blood, and in the Evening took half a Dram of the Pow¬ der mention’d in the preceeding Cafes. On the Saturday Morning I found it had not operated other- wife than by exciting a gentle Sweat. His Tongue, however, was much moifter, and there was a very good Separation in his Urine *, and upon the whole, 1 thought him a good deal better ; but as he had been coftive for many Days, I directed him a gentle Purge, which operated about fix Times. In the Evening, he took another Dofe of Powder, which alfo excited a gentle Sweat, and the next Morning I found him much recovered, his Urine continuing to depofite a copious Sediment. But as'the Powder had procured no Stools, I repeated the Purge, which operated as the former had done. The Monday following, being the next Day, he took another Powder, which again excited a gentle Sweat. And , on \fuefday Morning the Fever entirely left him, and he immediately recovered without taking any Thing more, and has ever fince enjoyed a good State of Health. R FMARK S. Some good Effedl may poftibly be afcribed to the Purges in this Cafe, and without Difpute rhey were of Service. But his fad den Recovery from fo dangerous a Fever, could be effcdled by nothing fo much as the Powders, efpecially as there was a re¬ gular Separation in his Urine, within twelve Hours after taking the firft Dofe, even before a Purge had been given. And indeed at that Time he appear’d to be fo far mended * as to be out of Danger.
