    1 more productive’’(Sir George Newman). Although we have very far to go yet, we have already accomplished what, a hundred years ago, would have been considered impossible. An event of considerable importance to the staffs concerned was the reconstruction of the new premises at Blue Coat House for the use of the Health, School Medical, and Kducatioii Depart-, ments. The Health Office was moved from the Guildhall to the new offices on October 3rd, 1927. It is permissible to add that the efforts made by the Council to provide more suitable and more adequate accommodation for the Health services have been fully appreciated. Reference to the new Maternity and Child Welfare Centre, first used on November 29th and fornwng part of the scheme, is made elsewhere. I have again the pleasant duty of expressing my thanks to the Chairman and Members of the various Committees concerned with Public Health work for the sympathetic consideration they have always given to suggestions brought before them, and to the whole of the Health Office Staff for the loyal and efficient way in which they have carried on the work of the Department.
