Description
Amoebiasis: histopathology of the colon
This is a low power view of an erosion of colonic mucosa. There is a small superficial defect in the epithelium accompanied by some inflammatory slough and one or two amoebae. This is the earliest lesion, preceding full ulceration. H&E stain.
Note the lack of acute inflammation in the crypts.
