About this work

Description

The scene is St. James's Street with the gate and towers of St. James's Palace in the rear. Having wasted all his inheritance and being in debt, he is on his way in a sedan chair with drawn curtains to St. James's Palace to seek patronage at the queen's birthday levee. Sarah Young appears just in time to pay his debts and save him from prison.
