About this work

Description

Copy letter sent from Adelaide, to the Fellows Medical Manufacturing Co, Vesey Street, New York.

Refers to Buroughs's recent tour of India and progress about introducing Fellows preparations to the country. Mentions Mr Lawrence and Mr Ballantine, and particularly sales, involving Burroughs Wellcome & Co, of Fellows' Syrup of Hypophosphites: "In my opinion there is no better field anywhere for Fellows Hypo than in India & if you desire us to do so feel confident we shall have no difficulty in establishing a very large trade for you there ... If you do not join us in engaging Mr Ballantine to travel & distribute s[am]ples to all the profession we can undertake to place your samples in the hands of all the profession in India on most advantageous terms to yourselves. Some of the samples we would send through our agents & correspondents but some of them would cost you more than 1/- each for delivery into the hands of all the doctors exclusive of the package cont[ainin]g the s[am]ples. I have forwarded some goods & corrected lists of the medical men to BW&Co who will be enabled to distribute the samples judiciously about 1000 will suffice for the whole of India[,] and their distribution in our way & through cooperation with all the trade will lead I am sure to a splendid business in Hypo in that country" [page 4].
