About this work

Description

WHO grade: corneal opacity (CO) This is the upper tarsal conjunctiva of a patient with corneal opacification. With grade CO trachoma there is corneal scarring which is central and sufficiently dense to obscure part of the pupil margin. The opacity is easily visible over the pupil. The pupil margin is blurred when viewed through the opacity. Note the blood vessels growing over the cornea. This is called corneal pannus and is common in trachoma. Note: WHO = World Health Organization.
