Copy 1 Note: For biographical information on Martin see P. d'Estrée, Bull. Soc. Hist. Pharm., vol. i, no. 17, p. 286-292, 1917. His name is often given as Barthélemy (e.g. t.p. and privilege of 1706 ed. of his 'Traité du lait'), but d'Estrée confirms that Bernardin is correct and established that Martin died in 1703, so that the 1706 publication must have been posthumous.
