Later administration and monitoring of UK district nursing

Files were kept on County Nursing Associations and those for cities and County Boroughs, and, after 1948, on relations with the County Councils. They were grouped by the different countries of the United Kingdom, plus separate sequences for London, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands. A 'miscellaneous' series comprised very small amounts of correspondence with any of these areas. Under the National Health Act of 1946, local authorities were responsible for district nursing provision, but many operated through the existing nursing associations. T.1-4, the files for England, London, Wales and the Isle of Man, comprise correspondence with, and reports on, Nursing Associations. Those marked with a '+' include pages from a register similar to the rolls of affiliated branches (Q.6); those marked with a '(C)' contain only correspondence.
