Description

Photomacrograph of chia (Salvia hispanica) seeds. Salvia hispanica belongs to the mint family and is native to central and South America. Chia is grown commercially for its seeds which are rich in protein, fibre, antioxidants, omega 3 and omega 6. Omega 3 and 6 are essential fatty acids required by the body for good health including brain function and normal growth and development. As the body cannot make these nutrients they have to be obtained through food. Width of image is 1 mm.
