About this work

Description

The first in a trilogy of investigations into baffling medical cases that are immortalised in Hollywood films. For 40 years, experts have been convinced that King George III's well-documented outbreaks of mania were the result of the hereditary disease porphyria. Yet the attacks were more intense than any other recorded case. This programme re-examines the evidence, using a few strands of hair.
